In a new initiative we’re launching a podcast. The aim will be to provide you with occasional interesting discussions from industry experts and legal minds.

In this first episode, Matt chats to Jessica Stephens QC of 4 Pump Court. She talks to Matt about her first 20 years at the bar, her career, diversity and the role of experts. They also chat about what she gets up to when she’s not helping clients resolve disputes.

Jessica Stephens QC has advised in and represented a range of clients in domestic and international disputes worldwide. Her experience has included the design and construction of buildings, infrastructure and installations.

She regularly appears in arbitrations and the Courts – both the TCC and the Commercial Court. Her experience includes all standard form construction and engineering contracts (including JCT, NEC, FIDIC) and has significant experience in international arbitrations. Jessica regularly acts and advises in relation to PFI/PPP contracts. She has particular experience in relation to cladding on high-rise developments, the construction and maintenance of hospitals, schools and other projects.

Jessica also has considerable experience of all aspects of adjudication. She’s advised on and drafted documents within the adjudication process. She has regularly appeared at enforcement hearings and injunctions in relation to adjudication.

Jessica provides advice (often on short notice) in relation to bonds, guarantees and indemnities on construction, energy and shipbuilding projects.

She also has experience of disputes concerning fire, floods, asbestos, subsidence, party wall and related insurance matters.
