On the last weekend of June 2021, founder and director, Tim Marlow embarked on a coast-to-coast charity bike ride to raise money for the Debbie Hudson Cancer Wellness Support Group. The journey saw him riding with a small group of riders from Whitehaven to Tynemouth – a distance of almost 150 miles and around 14,000 feet of hills.
Tim set off on his ride on Friday 25th June at the height of the British summer. The team had a tough start to the journey with heavy rain all day.
Saturday 26th similarly brought cold, wet weather. So much so that Tim borrowed a dog bed to wrap around himself in an attempt to stop the shivering. Anyone who has experienced that level of cold will be only too familiar with the kind of misery Tim was going through as he passed the half-way point.
Sunday 27th, they ended the ride in Tynemouth with glorious sunshine, despite some dodgy navigation that took them on a slight detour to Sunderland, oops!
After a rather gruelling weekend, we are happy to announce Tim made it home in one piece (just!), having raised an amazing £1,400 for the charity, well over his target.
Thank you to everyone who supported Tim and donated to this cause, close to Tim’s heart. There’s still time to donate if you’ve not managed to do so yet: https://www.justgiving.com/crowdfunding/tim-marlow
